Centre for Integrated Energy Research

Bioenergy CDT Launch Event

The official launch of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training took place on 14th April 2015 (the first student cohort having arrived in September 2014). Around 80 delegates attended, including University of Leeds academics, Bioenergy CDT students, Low Carbon Technologies CDT students, external partners and stakeholders such as SUPERGEN Bioenergy Hub, Drax, Alstom, Torftech, Arigna Fuels, EPRI, North Energy, Matthey, Rotawave, Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, University of Sheffield, Leeds City Council.

The aim of the event was to gather input from external stakeholders on research strategy and methods for collaboration. As a Centre for Doctoral Training, the Bioenergy CDT has an obligation to ensure impact for the research conducted within the centre, and also to pull in funding and in-kind support from outside the centre.

The day was divided into talks and workshops, with a poster exhibition over lunch. Bioenergy CDT students acted as facilitators throughout the day.

A report capturing the day’s activities will form the basis for developing Bioenergy-related research at Leeds for the next few years.
