Bioenergy CDT Visit to Bowland Bioenergy Ltd - 10th October 2017

Bowland Bioenergy Ltd, based in a rural location near to Pendle Hill in Lancashire, produce wood fuel from plantation forestry, for sale to local organisations such as schools. Students and staff from the Bioenergy CDT visited the site to learn more about the realities of processing wood fuel, including issues regarding supply & demand, drying of the fuel and managing dust.

Staff at the company gave the team demonstrations of a wood chipper, boiler and wood dryer, as well as engaging in detailed discussions around wood fuel testing for moisture and energy content. They also had a very cute cocker spaniel called Tilly wearing her own branded PPE!
