Green Transport Conference in Tianjin, China

Dr Hu Li from the Energy Research Institute organised a two-day International Conference on Green Transport, Renewable Energy and Environment (ICGTREE) in Tianjin, China in August, along with three other Chinese universities (Hebei University of Technology, Tianjin University and Zhejiang University). The conference was part of activities of a WUN (Worldwide University Network) International Collaboration Fund project: Building a network for developing a roadmap of transition pathways to a low carbon transport future.

Dr Hu Li and Professor Gordon Andrews from the Energy Research Institute delivered keynote speeches on transport emissions and biomass combustion respectively in the plenary session and chaired the transport session afterwards. The conference aimed to share research findings and exchange ideas and build collaborations between China and the UK in the green transport and renewable energy areas. Professor Gordon Andrews also gave a seminar on biomass energy after the conference. A joint project between Leeds and Hebei University of Technology is under development as a result of the conference and visit.
