The Centre for Integrated Energy Research Awarded a £1.4m EPSRC Grant

A team from the Centre for Integrated Energy Research have been awarded a 3 year, £1.4m (FEC) grant from the EPSRC to lead a multi-institution study exploring the potential for decentralised energy storage in cities. The Leeds team includes Prof Peter Taylor (PI), Dr Catherine Bale, Prof Tim Cockerill and Dr Paul Upham and the project also involves researchers from the Universities of Birmingham, Loughborough and Warwick. The research will develop a variety of tools and methods, including technology validation, techno-economic modelling, innovation studies and public attitude surveys, to address specific barriers to the deployment of city-scale energy storage and demonstrate their application in case studies of Birmingham and Leeds.
