ERC Proof of Concept Grant (€150k) Awarded

Dr Hu Li (with Professor John Plane in the School of Chemistry) has been awarded an ERC Proof of Concept Grant (€150k), Low Cost Material for Exhaust Catalysis (LowCat), under the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme. The project is to develop a low cost catalyst with a vision to replace the Platinum Group Metals (PGMs) that are widely used in automotive exhaust catalysis. PGMs are in increasing demand for catalytic converter applications; however, the metals are very expensive and in finite supply leading to sustainability and cost advantages in using non-PGM catalysts. The project will kick off in July 2017 and last for 14 months.
