Algae for Energy and High Value Applications

The Centre for Integrated Energy Research coordinates the University of Leeds Algae Research Network. Drawing together expertise across a broad range of scientific disciplines, social sciences, engineering, environmental science and techno-economics, in the biofuel and related areas. Our expertise includes:

  • Conversion of Algae to Biofuels and Chemicals using Technology such as Catalytic Processing
  • Microwave Pyrolysis/Extraction, Supercritical Water Gasification and Supercritical Fluid Extraction
  • The Cultivation and Characterisation of Algae
  • The Production of Novel Materials and Bio-composites
  • The Production of High Value Chemicals
  • The Evaluation and Upgrading of Biofuels
