Carbon Capture, Transport and Storage

The Centre has a range of technological and engineering expertise spanning the full carbon capture, transport and storage chain, which is complemented by strong expertise in energy policy and economics. Through our extensive cross-disciplinary collaborations we are able to integrate our world-leading research in capture and storage (as outlined below), with perspectives on whole energy systems and public perceptions.   • We have a strong research in the geological storage of CO2 in both the short and long-term, focusing on risk assessment, monitoring, developing geo-engineering solutions and integrating carbon storage within the whole CCS chain

Through our extensive cross-disciplinary collaborations we are able to integrate our world-leading research in capture and storage (as outlined below), with perspectives on whole energy systems and public perceptions.

  • Through cross-membership of the Energy-Technology Innovation Initiative (ETII) and the CIER team, we have access to a major integrated research and innovation programme on carbon capture, with an emphasis (but not an exclusive focus) on the oxy-fuel route.┬áThis includes fundamental research on carbon capture, whole system simulation and pilot scale translational research. This research has a major impact on the UK’s roll-out of CCS
